Paul Wunderlich

There are and were a lot of excellent lithographic artists around, but Paul Wunderlich (1927 - 2010) is by far my favourite one. I met him in 2009 at art gallery Hangar311 in Mechelen, Belgium. Paul Wunderlich was an excellent painter and sculptor as well, but his lithographic work is just outstanding. He combines craftsmanship, fantasy, and irony in his work, often referring to classical mythology and well known classical images he created an impressive body of work. Eroticism played part in his work and in the confiscating of lithographs "qui s'explique" by the Hamburg prosecutor for indecent depictions, in 1960. Paul Wunderlich married photographer Karin Székessy in 1971, they worked together on a couple of art projects.

We all know the "Mona Lisa"

Böhm Stirling

Böhm Stirling engines. A combination of the Stirling motor by Robert Stirling, and the gasoline powered one by Karl Benz. Böhm lays at the base of these wonderful German engines. A lot of engineers got fascinated by the Böhm idea, and what followed where these amazing pieces of breath taking mechanical devices.
All it takes is a little flame to get it started, they sound as delicious as they look.
For detailed explanation take a look at the Böhm-Stirling web page.
Don't forget to switch on the sound!!!

Julia Fullerton-Batten

Julia Fullerton-Batten from the 'personal' series. She was born in Bremen, Germany. Living and working in London. After her studies she worked as an assistant to different photographer for about five years.
She got a very distinctive style, using complex lightning techniques. The unique combining of natural and artificial light (and cross lighting) stands for the unearthly feeling. It feels like a fantasy you want to explore, a mysterious moment in time. Pictures with a hidden story, teasing you to have another glimpse.
