Before the rebuild

True to tradition students have rebuilt their workspace into a temporary gallery, as June is the time to present their work to a jury. Guiding the students at 'Atelier vrije Grafiek' is master of arts Olivier Martens, skilled in a wide range of graphic technique.
'Atelier vrije grafiek' is part of SASK-Hasselt, Belgium, and a good spot to master Lithography, Intaglio printing (etching), screen printing and solar plate technique. Mostly working with eco-friendly products nowadays.

Kreng

Kreng "The Summoner" it's their third release. First saw the band performing at 'Kunstencentrum Belgie' in Hasselt Belgium. They worked closely together with  theater company 'Abbatoir Fermé'.
The Summoner is dark, chaotic and fascinating. The composing of Pepijn Caudron comes packed in a beautiful sleeve.
After five stages of mourning..... number six introduces Amenra!

the Prospects

Great new band from Limburg, Belgium. The Prospect's single is catchy and raw, and although it is only their first single, it is picked up by the major radio stations. "What is tomorrow" is from the debut album "Looking good". And needless to say, they play a mean live set.

Jonny Vekemans

Belgian Coal Mining Heritage
Former miner Jonny Vekemans knows the abandoned mines as no other. Using a pinhole camera he shows us the beauty and the decay of the old Belgian mines. He used to work there and by cataloging it, he still is in a certain way. Creating even stronger and more interesting images by producing cyanotypes from his pinhole negatives. Jonny Vekemans lives and works in Genk, Belgium.

Frederic Geurts

Finding the balance between gravity and motion is often the main theme in Frederic Geurts' work. This Belgian artist constructs fragile, mostly monumental metal structures. Almost working like an architect or engineer his artwork becomes a part of the building, nature or whatever places they are designed for.
He is not keen on spreading a message and even though most critics find beauty is not a criterion in modern art, Frederic thinks you don't have to exclude it.
He had his first solo exhibition in Z33, Hasselt, Belgium.

Unsettling and uncomfortable shapes by Berlinde De Bruyckere. Most of her sculptures are faceless or headless, but beautiful and tender as well.
