Nuala O'Donovan

Nuala O'Donovan slowly constructs her porcelain sculptures over a period of weeks or even months. Drawing her inspiration from natural forms and patterns. Her decisions are guided by the characteristics of irregular/fractal patterns.
Nuala O'Donovan; "My decision to research patterns and forms from nature stemmed from my interest in the narrative quality of irregularities in patterns. The history behind a scarred or broken surface is what fascinates me. The evidence of a response to random events visible in patterns in nature, is testament to the ability of living organisms to recover, to respond, and to continue growing and changing. It is the imperfections in the patterns caused by a unique experience that are evidence of the life force in living organisms."

SASK-Hasselt, Belgium

Before the rebuild

True to tradition students have rebuilt their workspace into a temporary gallery, as June is the time to present their work to a jury. Guiding the students at 'Atelier vrije Grafiek' is master of arts Olivier Martens, skilled in a wide range of graphic technique.
'Atelier vrije grafiek' is part of SASK-Hasselt, Belgium, and a good spot to master Lithography, Intaglio printing (etching), screen printing and solar plate technique. Mostly working with eco-friendly products nowadays.

Atsushi Koyama

Human forms interacting with mechanical parts on a black canvas, Atsushi Koyama produces his oil paintings while listening to electronic music. Separately, the technical diagrams and anatomical studies look very classical, but combined, in oil on canvas it takes on a completely new life. Atsushi Koyama holds a degree in 'Fine Art' and 'Mathematics', well represented in his art...

Creating on the borderline of art and science with electronic sounds filling his workspace resulted in the 'Metamachine project'. A collaboration between Atsushi Koyama, Frantic Gallery and Abonded Audio.
